BACKGROUND

Red Byrd creates dynamic visuals, giving depth and realism to projects that help clients, students and stakeholders ‘get’ or grasp how products work, or understand your message more clearly, whether anatomical, mechanical or fictional.

They leverage the experience and creativity of graphic designers, animators, programmers and project managers to create a cohesive final product on time and within budget.

How we helped

Robin Soloy came to us to brand her new company. We helped zero in on her name and unique spelling and then got to work on her brand. Knowing her skills as a 3D animator it made sense to find an image that expressed her personality and her services. Designing an origami bird was a perfect match as it expressed both her 2D and 3D expertise. It also gave her a great excuse to animate it for her website!

We created business cards for her as well, which not only looked great but felt great using a varnish coating to give it that professional touch.

We helped Northern Rockies take off

BACKGROUND

We rebranded and developed a website for Lake Simcoe Regional Airport a number of years ago and just this past year did a redevelopment of the original site to a DRUPAL site. Last fall we received a call from Northern Rockies Regional Airport asking us to submit a proposal as they loved the LSRA site so much! We won the bid and took off on a number of projects!

Taking an airport to new heights

Background

The Lake Simcoe Regional Airport is one of the newest and best positioned regional airport facilities in Canada. Located in one of the fastest growing regions of Ontario directly serving a population base of over 450,000, the Lake Simcoe Regional Airport serves the County of Simcoe including the municipalities of Barrie and the Township of Oro-Medonte. The Airport offers these users a convenient location in close proximity to both the Greater Toronto Area as well as pristine Central Ontario Cottage Country. With its modern airport facilities and 6,001 ft runway, the Lake Simcoe Regional Airport is able to serve a wide variety of aircraft ranging from small recreational and flight training aircraft to larger corporate, regional and commercial aircraft.

How we helped:

In 2007 we met with Mike Drumm from Lake Simcoe Regional Airport to begin one of our long-standing client relationships. We created a new logo and custom CMS website built in Adobe Flash. (We did say 2007!) In 2012 we re-launched a new design, fresh content and refocused on new opportunities at the airport. Mike loves the new CMS, built on one of our favourite platforms, DRUPAL.

The Lake Simcoe Regional Airport through its parent, the City of Barrie, undertook to completely re-brand the regional airport’s image with a new corporate logo and web site as the core projects. The diverse nature and fast pace of the aviation business demanded a product that would define the Lake Simcoe Regional Airport as contender in the global market – Rhubarb Media was able to provide such a product. Not only did the creative and dynamic team at Rhubarb deliver a professional image of the airport, but were able to do so with the initial parameters evolving into a larger product. I would highly recommend the services of this group.

Expressing our love for art and city

Client: Maclaren Art

The MacLaren Art Centre is the regional public art gallery serving the residents of Barrie, the County of Simcoe and the surrounding area. It has a permanent collection of 26,600 works of art held in trust for the public and presents a year-round programme of world-class exhibitions, public art projects, education activities and special events.

The MacLaren is housed in an award-winning building in downtown Barrie. The complex includes multiple galleries, an education centre, a sculpture courtyard, café, gift shop and framing department. As a cornerstone of culture for Barrie, the MacLaren is a visual arts centre that adds to the social, intellectual, creative and economic fabric of this community; it is a central meeting place, a destination for visitors from across the province, and a catalyst for downtown revitalization contributing to the success and vitality of this city.

How we helped: The Maclaren Art Centre was on a web platform that didn’t serve their needs. Little attention was paid to imagery and events. In 2009 we met with Caroline, the director. Working with a new marketing campaign “Start Thinking Art” we redesigned and developed a website with the ability for staff to easily manage content and collect payment online. We also recommended and designed a MailChimp template for e-communications. In 2012 a revitalization project helped to reach even more of the community with a greater focus on exhibitions, events and the addition of MacLarenArtOnline; a searchable database of their permanent collection.

We’ve made lives better for veterans

CLIENT: Department of Veterans Affairs, United States of America

In 2009, the US Department of Veterans Affairs was tasked with communicating the benefits of the new Post 9/11 GI Bill. The benefits were great but VA was unable to effectively communicate it to veterans and their families. By establishing an awareness campaign for these benefits, Rhubarb Media, along with it’s U.S. partner, American Independent Media, were able to increase benefit applications by 45%. Along with some amazing U.S. partners we helped re-brand and market the Post 9/11 GI BILL. From branding to advertising to video to websites to executing the creative for an entire NASCAR event, Rhubarb Media and team delivered!

American Independent Media was instrumental in creating a now-iconic brand for the GI Bill. The Department of Veterans Affairs worked with AIM to conduct a national marketing campaign to promote the greatest expansion of education benefits since World War Two. Through AIM’s support we conducted a national advertising campaign, NASACAR race weekend, and brand promotion strategy for the Post-9/11 GI Bill<sup>®</sup> from 2010 to 2015. All were successful in establishing a nationally recognized brand and increasing in the number of people using the GI Bill. The employees I worked with at AIM were some of the most professional individuals I’ve had the pleasure of work with. They were inspired and dedicated to their craft. AIM’s leadership team was always willing to go the extra mile and work tirelessly for a product that met our needs. Simply put, the GI Bill would not enjoy the recognition by the public today without AIM.
