BACKGROUND

The Kempenfelt Community Players (KCP) is a community theatre group that has been performing in Barrie and the surrounding area for over 35 years. They are made up of enthusiastic members who have a love for live theatre. New members are always welcome, both onstage and behind the scenes.  We were approached by KCP in 2007 to become one of their media sponsors. Knowing the quality of the work they produce and the opportunities they provide for community members of all ages, we were happy to support them with an updated logo, website and ongoing marketing materials.

From the time Chad Ballantyne opened Rhubarb Media in 2006, his company has been one of the most active and creative supporters of Cultural Development in Barrie. I have had the pleasure of working with Chad and his artistic team since they began moulding and re-shaping Kempenfelt Community Players’ image in all pieces of print work. Over the last 9 years Rhubarb Media has provided in-kind work to produce Season Subscriptions, posters, flyers, banners, a new logo, and beautiful theatre programs that improve our image and achieve a professional look that we could never manage on our own. But this is just a fraction of the support that Rhubarb Media provides to the Cultural growth in Barrie.

In my opinion, the in-kind support demonstrated by Rhubarb Media is one-of-a-kind in the city of Barrie (exceeding 100K and growing!). As owner, Chad is a person who lives and acts on his beliefs that culture is the heart to any city. If there is a meeting about cultural growth in Barrie, I can guarantee that he is there. If there is a council meeting where cultural spending is going to be discussed, you’ll find him there.

Chad is a person who acts on his values; he is generous with his time and talents supporting other groups who can then better share their artistic works.

Our support has helped feed families

Background

The Barrie Food Bank’s mission is: to provide temporary food relief to individuals and families of our community who are in need, and to serve as a resource to guide them along the road to self-sufficiency. Their policies are designed to achieve this mandate. To this end they seek to encourage self-sufficiency. In their service of those who come to them for assistance, they strive to demonstrate compassion and respect for their dignity, and to serve as a source of encouragement.

How we served

In 2011, Barrie Food Bank realized they could better achieve their goals by better communicating with their supporters. Up until then, their interactions had been through traditional channels like radio and newspapers. Rhubarb Media sponsored logo, website and other design needs for Barrie Food Bank, which helped the Food Bank increase funding exponentially. This improved the Food Bank’s ability to meet the 48% increase in usage over the past two years, with more than 32,000 families being served in 2013. The immediate positive impact of families being fed will also have an immeasurable impact on how well these families can function and then give back to the community in the long-term.

BACKGROUND

Moving Art is not just a dance studio. Moving Art is a Centre for Performing Arts that connects all the arts to create well- rounded performers. Moving Art is a professional training facility in the areas of dance, drama and music. Everyone is welcome at Moving Art, and quickly becomes family!

We’ve been part of Moving Art’s growth for years.  Watching Carla and her Crew pour into the young lives they were entrusted with we knew they were worth investing in.  We’ve revamped their online presence, gotten them rolling on social media and handle all their promo materials.

WEB  DESIGN & DEVELOPMENT

BACKGROUND

Over the past eight years, Rhubarb Media has become the go-to studio for design and web services for arts and culture organizations and OMAH continues that trend. We consulted with them to create a new and improved content managed site (DRUPAL) designed to be highly visual, interactive and responsive.

There can be unique challenges for designers when you become your own client. Enter Rhubarb Media, who patiently navigated us through the rebranding process until we were happy with the graphic representation of our firm.

With our brand secured, the Rhubarb Media team then built our website. They took our vision and designed the site based on a content management system that allows us to edit and update our own site content.

Rhubarb collaborated well with another development firm that we included on our team. The self-serve aspect of the site is important to us but we are comforted by the knowledge that Rhubarb is there for support and back-up.

We were pleased to finally have our new site launched and to introduce our new brand. Feedback has been very positive and we credit the excellent people at Rhubarb Media for helping to make our vision a reality.
