smOffice

BACKGROUND

A National contest to offer six months of free office space in the world’s smallest office, conveniently positioned in the storefront window of The Creative Space, Barrie’s entrepreneurial gathering place and live in a cool new studio condo just outside of downtown.

20 community sponsors came on board.

Things we worked on:

BRANDING, WEBSITE, PRINT MEDIA, ADVERTISING, MARKETING, PR, VIDEO

We worked hard spreading the word across Simcoe, Canada and the world about this great contest and our great City!

UPDATE/Review

We set up a great web site featuring the winnings and all you wonderful sponsors with links to your websites.

We created 3 feature pages – feel free to link to them in your posts, tweets, etc

The smOffice – showing off the furniture, the space and other winnings

Barrie -showing off our city

The Condo – showcasing the property and 606 condo

We ran a Canada Wide PR blast

Press Release went across Canada and got some good exposure

The last report was March 12th, so the stats will have increased – The release appeared on 108 media websites with a total potential audience reach of 70,450,000 people.

No non-Barrie press pick up, but that will change when we get an applicant, as we can leverage their local story with their local press.

We ran a secondary PR blitz to local smaller outlets – report coming.

We’ve produced 2 great videos (thanks Stature!) talking about the project and our amazing sponsors

VIDEO #1

VIDEO #2

We built a stage and smOffice corner with a brick wall wrap and blade sign

We will be working on the front of the building banner/railing featuring all your logos in the next few weeks.

Prizes coming

We bought an e-bike for the winner to use, but it will stay with TCS for other promotions ongoing. Should arrive in May (we hope!)

We’ll be purchasing a MAC Air for the winner

$500 slush fund for the winner deposited in free MCU bank account

Local Press

Advance – small repeat of the press release

Examiner – Large pic and amazing half page article, including the front page banner teaser.  Great article!

Got picked up by a number of affiliate online outlets and online news feeds

TV

Rogers TV with Craig Busch – they showed the sponsors screen and I believe we listed off everyone!

(Daytime, plus scheduled for a longer show with Business with Charmaine on April 29th)

We also landed on a number of Online news mag sites an got reposted on Startup Canada, VentureLabs and other online startup influencers

Social Media

Twitter has been a buzz with followers from all over the globe!

I sent 306 tweets to 122 people in the past 44 days with a total reach of over 225,000 people.

We received decent RTs and favourites throughout the 44 days from some good influencers.

I received a call from a Business Coach in BC who was raving about it!

I had a call from a Denver Colorado entrepreneur org called House of Genius.  They stated how awesome this idea was and that they see Barrie as they we’re 10 year earlier.  A great city on the verge of something big!  I agree!

We ran 3 paid Facebook campaigns with a total reach of 180,000

We’ve made lives better for veterans

CLIENT: Department of Veterans Affairs, United States of America

In 2009, the US Department of Veterans Affairs was tasked with communicating the benefits of the new Post 9/11 GI Bill. The benefits were great but VA was unable to effectively communicate it to veterans and their families. By establishing an awareness campaign for these benefits, Rhubarb Media, along with it’s U.S. partner, American Independent Media, were able to increase benefit applications by 45%. Along with some amazing U.S. partners we helped re-brand and market the Post 9/11 GI BILL. From branding to advertising to video to websites to executing the creative for an entire NASCAR event, Rhubarb Media and team delivered!

American Independent Media was instrumental in creating a now-iconic brand for the GI Bill. The Department of Veterans Affairs worked with AIM to conduct a national marketing campaign to promote the greatest expansion of education benefits since World War Two. Through AIM’s support we conducted a national advertising campaign, NASACAR race weekend, and brand promotion strategy for the Post-9/11 GI Bill® from 2010 to 2015. All were successful in establishing a nationally recognized brand and increasing in the number of people using the GI Bill. The employees I worked with at AIM were some of the most professional individuals I’ve had the pleasure of work with. They were inspired and dedicated to their craft. AIM’s leadership team was always willing to go the extra mile and work tirelessly for a product that met our needs. Simply put, the GI Bill would not enjoy the recognition by the public today without AIM.

I wanted to take an opportunity to tell you what a pleasure it was working with you on the Post-9/11 GI  Bill.  It’s so hard to believe how long ago that was now.  I continue to be amazed at the great work everyone did on all the projects we under took as part of the implementation –  no small thanks owed to you and your team for all your support.  It truly felt like a team effort.

Empowering a family to grow their business

Background

EthoSolar is an Ontario-wide solar power provider. Since 2009 they have installed nearly 7 MW of complete grid-tied solar PV applications for roof mount systems, ground mount fixed systems, and tracking systems. They have developed high-quality, 360 degree solar PV solutions for Net Metering, microFIT and FIT programs within the Ontario market. It is their committment to provide each customer with the system that best fits their particular needs. At EthoSolar, a family run business, they are dedicated to making your investment in clean, renewable energy as profitable and seamless as possible.

How we helped

Ken and Geri Rounds came to us with a homemade logo, a brochure and a great vision to help farmers and ranchers use their property year ’round to produce energy and offer a future revenue stream.

In 2009 Rhubarb partnered with EthoSolar to establish a strong presence in this new marketing through naming, branding, research, communications plan, web, marketing materials, social media marketing, video and photography.

We are proud to be a part of their success going from startup to a million dollar operation in just two years.
