5×5

5×5

The Town of Collingwood asked Rhubarb Media in partnership with the Creative Space Barrie and Collingwood to design, plan and host an innovation event in Collingwood.  The idea was to be a fast-paced presentation highlighting the talent in the region.

5X5 is is a high energy “TED Talk” style event/ innovator’s forum presented by The Creative Space Collingwood and partners, in order to shine a spotlight on local innovators and companies. 5×5 is like a microphone turned up loud and clear and offers the opportunity for companies to showcase their stuff, share success and challenges they are having while connecting with potential investors, partners employees and customers.

Young Parents

Young Parents

BACKGROUND

We love working with people who help others in need, which is why we were so excited to work with Young Parents GTA. Young Parents is an organization which offers help and hope for parents ages 15-25, and their children, and is part of Youth Unlimited Toronto. They wanted to create their own unique brand, separate from the YU brand, to promote their amazing services and support for young families.

When we heard the vision a picture came to mind and evolved into their visual identity, as well as a teaching tool, to express the YP vision and mission.

They needed a full branding package and website which would allow for them to have a strong visual identity and an online hub to provide resources and information. The logo was designed using the letters Y + P to form a tree; a symbol of strength, shelter, play and nourishment and these four themes reflect common goals in their organization.

I want to give a shoutout to Rhubarb Media who has done the logo, web design (see www.youngparents.ca), and other graphic design projects for our Young Parents – Youth Unlimited GTA program over the last couple of years. Everything they make for us we love! Here are a few samples below!
They are a company that listens well and really “gets” what we’re about – which feeds into the designs they do for us. They are a valuable partner.
I’d HIGHLY recommend them for your website and design projects!

Bob Rumball Canadian Centre of Excellence for the Deaf

BACKGROUND

“Our message is a simple one. “Make a difference in someone’s life by making tomorrow better than today”. Our services to our community began in 1956 in the lobby of the Evangelical Church of the Deaf on Wellesley Street and that desire to make a difference is just as strong now as it was then.  We are not done. As we reach out across the country we will overcome many challenges and break through countless obstacles. We will meet the needs of those we serve. One person at a time, one life at time.”

— Derek Rumball, President
Bob Rumball Canadian Centre of Excellence for the Deaf

Mission: To provide care and opportunities in a communication-rich environment that enhances the quality of life of those we serve.

WEBSITE, ACCESSIBILITY

Website

So it’s been a month since we’ve launched the very beautiful website that you have designed for us.  We have heard nothing but positive feedback from everyone.  In fact, a couple of the agencies that came to our launch were so impressed that they said when they’re ready to redesign, they will want to use you guys J

One little story that I’d like to share with you, and I hope you will not find it offensive, and hopefully be able to help you in winning many more contracts down the road:

As you remember from the RFP phase of our web project, we have solicited different designers/agencies for a formal proposal, and each of the committee members has reviewed every submitted proposal thoroughly.  Despite the fact that I personally felt some good vibes with the proposal, feeling that your team was very, for the lack of a better term, ‘user-friendly’; the general consensus from the whole committee was that the proposal did not directly touch on our requirements stated in our RFP.  In fact, you guys were almost not considered for an interview, it wasn’t until one of the committee members stated that everyone has come so far and so close and that we should keep an open mind, and an additional 30-45 minutes of interview time should not be a reason to ‘close the door’ on a team that, although didn’t provide a proposal that addressed our concerns, has given us ‘intangible good vibes’.  Once we had you guys in for the presentation, the committee was unanimously impressed, Chad had touched on every single point we were concerned about.  And the rest, as they say, is history.

Thank you again, Rhubarb team, for the awesome site.  I definitely will not hesitate to recommend you guys!

Best wishes,
Fred on behalf of the Rumball Organizations

Pastor Pixel: Church Design

Pastor Pixel: Church Design

As a new church in a highly creative community, we understand the importance of good design. Pastor Pixel has helped us with sermon series branding, signage, banners, space design, invitations, and more. I’ve worked with both volunteers and professionals before, but Pastor Pixel stands above them all. They do great work and have a passion for the message we’re communicating. Highly recommended.

BACKGROUND

Prior to launching Rhubarb Media and Pastor Pixel, Chad Ballantyne was a pastor for 15 years.  He understands the heartbeat of the modern church. Many churches are offended when asked about “marketing” their church, but they need not be.   The goal is being authentic and effective. So as a church, ask yourself, “Do we want to get better?”  Pastor Pixel has been helping churches since 2000 to be better at sharing it’s message to both it’s congregation and to the community it serves.  And it’s not just Chad.  We have  great designers and web developers all forming the Pastor Pixel team!

Things we worked on:

BRANDING, ILLUSTRATION, TRADESHOW BANNERS/BOOTHS, PRINT DESIGN, VIDEOGRAPHY, PHOTO MANIPULATION, WEB DESIGN, MARKETING, & SOCIAL MEDIA.

You tied everything together beautifully. You were able to pull out the personality of our campaign by just listening to stories and our hearts.
It’s hard to explain but you were able to show the “need” of our campaign without actually focusing on it.

The second part of our campaign was the need for “branding”, as well as a website, marketing material, brochure etc.
Again, we ended up with a refreshing complete package.  In short, the Pastor Pixel team was extremely professional, with an attention to detail and the uncanny ability to pull everything together within an extremely tight timeframe.
