BACKGROUND
“Our message is a simple one. “Make a difference in someone’s life by making tomorrow better than today”. Our services to our community began in 1956 in the lobby of the Evangelical Church of the Deaf on Wellesley Street and that desire to make a difference is just as strong now as it was then. We are not done. As we reach out across the country we will overcome many challenges and break through countless obstacles. We will meet the needs of those we serve. One person at a time, one life at time.”
— Derek Rumball, President
Bob Rumball Canadian Centre of Excellence for the Deaf
Mission: To provide care and opportunities in a communication-rich environment that enhances the quality of life of those we serve.
So it’s been a month since we’ve launched the very beautiful website that you have designed for us. We have heard nothing but positive feedback from everyone. In fact, a couple of the agencies that came to our launch were so impressed that they said when they’re ready to redesign, they will want to use you guys J
One little story that I’d like to share with you, and I hope you will not find it offensive, and hopefully be able to help you in winning many more contracts down the road:
As you remember from the RFP phase of our web project, we have solicited different designers/agencies for a formal proposal, and each of the committee members has reviewed every submitted proposal thoroughly. Despite the fact that I personally felt some good vibes with the proposal, feeling that your team was very, for the lack of a better term, ‘user-friendly’; the general consensus from the whole committee was that the proposal did not directly touch on our requirements stated in our RFP. In fact, you guys were almost not considered for an interview, it wasn’t until one of the committee members stated that everyone has come so far and so close and that we should keep an open mind, and an additional 30-45 minutes of interview time should not be a reason to ‘close the door’ on a team that, although didn’t provide a proposal that addressed our concerns, has given us ‘intangible good vibes’. Once we had you guys in for the presentation, the committee was unanimously impressed, Chad had touched on every single point we were concerned about. And the rest, as they say, is history.
Thank you again, Rhubarb team, for the awesome site. I definitely will not hesitate to recommend you guys!
Best wishes,
Fred on behalf of the Rumball Organizations

As a new church in a highly creative community, we understand the importance of good design. Pastor Pixel has helped us with sermon series branding, signage, banners, space design, invitations, and more. I’ve worked with both volunteers and professionals before, but Pastor Pixel stands above them all. They do great work and have a passion for the message we’re communicating. Highly recommended.
Prior to launching Rhubarb Media and Pastor Pixel, Chad Ballantyne was a pastor for 15 years. He understands the heartbeat of the modern church. Many churches are offended when asked about “marketing” their church, but they need not be. The goal is being authentic and effective. So as a church, ask yourself, “Do we want to get better?” Pastor Pixel has been helping churches since 2000 to be better at sharing it’s message to both it’s congregation and to the community it serves. And it’s not just Chad. We have great designers and web developers all forming the Pastor Pixel team!
You tied everything together beautifully. You were able to pull out the personality of our campaign by just listening to stories and our hearts.
It’s hard to explain but you were able to show the “need” of our campaign without actually focusing on it.
The second part of our campaign was the need for “branding”, as well as a website, marketing material, brochure etc.
Again, we ended up with a refreshing complete package. In short, the Pastor Pixel team was extremely professional, with an attention to detail and the uncanny ability to pull everything together within an extremely tight timeframe.
Kempenfelt Community Players is an incredible organization. Working with KCP, we bring to the audience, an immersive and moving experience. We create branding, print production, and illustration work for each musical/play.
Things we worked on:
BRANDING, MARKING COLLATERAL, ILLUSTRATIONS, PRINT PRODUCTION, EDITORIAL
In my opinion, the in-kind support demonstrated by Rhubarb Media is one-of-a-kind in the city of Barrie (exceeding 100K and growing!). As owner, Chad is a person who lives and acts on his beliefs that culture is the heart to any city. If there is a meeting about cultural growth in Barrie, I can guarantee that he is there. If there is a council meeting where cultural spending is going to be discussed, you’ll find him there.
Chad is a person who acts on his values; he is generous with his time and talents supporting other groups who can then better share their artistic works.

BACKGROUND
Sweet Flour Bake Shop opened their doors in 2009 to become the world’s first 2-minute custom cookie shop, and every day since they’ve been wowing customers with their one-of-a-kind interactive cookie experience. With over 15,000 combinations to taste, your ultimate cookie is out there.
How we helped
In 2009, Kim Gans had an idea for a shop which offered customized cookies, freshly-baked in two minutes. She needed a company to help reach her audience with that delicious message. Through Rhubarb’s web design, print, in-store marketing and partnership with our associates at Digital Giants, we introduced Sweet Flour to the world.
Since then we have worked with Kim and her team to design new packaging, evolve the website with seasonal promotions, launch commerce capabilities and search engine marketing campaigns.
